And this make 47: Fabric Supplies for Christmas!

One final count on those unfinished projects.  I got a charm pack for Christmas.  I better add that to the list too as it will need to become a quilted something before the year is over!  Thanks Meghan for the thoughtful gift!
So there it is, the final count!  47 unfinished projects.  Time to get rolling on finishing things!  :)

More unfinished projects!

Just when I thought I had blogged about ALL my unfinished projects, I
have a few more to add to the list.  My birthday is in December and my daughter and son-in-law gave me this dessert roll.
Since I couldn't have a dessert roll without a pattern, I ordered myself this DESSERT ROLL QUILTS book.  Now I have a dessert roll with a plan.

Then a friend came over with this gift for my birthday.  A bundle of fat quarters in woolies flannel.  Love the feel of this fabric.  Hummm . . . I see a quilt for myself brewing from these dear fat quarters.

And then I realized I had a few more unfinished projects lurking in my sewing room.  This jelly roll quilt was one my daughter started some embroidery blocks for years ago.  Since the embroider blocks were never completed, I guess I will have to sew the blocks together to make a lap quilt.  At least then it would be a quilt and not just orphan blocks.

And a kit from my Civil War club I was in a few years back.  Now, what did I do with the star pattern that goes with that?  LOL!
Oh, and this beauty!  A quilted jacket.  Would I ever wear this now?  I don't know.  I may need to turn this into a quilt rather than a jacket, but it needs to become something useful.  There are a lot of dollars tied up in all that fabric.

I hope that completes my list.  When I posted last time about having 39 UFO quilts, I was actually wrong.  I miscounted with my list last time as one picture is 3 quilts all the same for fit-to-frame quilts.  So, it is a GRAND TOTAL of 46 unfinished projects.  Oh my goodness, that is a daunting number.  I will do my best in 2014 to finish, rather than start with more new things.  Should be an interesting year!

UFO Quilt Challenge

Heirloom Creations is offering a UFO Quilt Challenge in 2014.  I decided to take the time tonight to take pictures of all my unfinished projects and post them on my blog.

1.  Meghan and Ryan's signature quilt from their March 24, 2012 wedding.  Quilting incomplete.  Binding not sewn on.

2.  Alaskan Sampler Quilt (this may never be complete).  I purchased this in Alaska.  It is a very difficult pattern and I have definitely lost interest in this one.
3.  Thimbleberries Quilt from 2001

4.  A Leader-Ender Project using 2 inch squares sewn into 16 patches.  It will be made with a solid to make and X and O quilt.
5.  Bubble Gum pink and white to make a quilt to hang on the wall by my bed!
6.  Hexagon hand piecing
7.  A Civil War Quilt
8.  Charm packages.  I had these all separated and placed together for a quilt pattern idea I had and now I can't remember what that idea was!  :(
9.  Kits I put together when I was a a "Fit to Frame" quilt craze.  There are three kits in here, all cut for the same pattern.

10.  Thimbleberries quilt.  It was supposed to have snowmen on it (which I never liked) so I added the snowflakes and never quilted it.
11.  L.O.V.E.  All the materials I purchased for another Civil War Era quilt.  Didn't dare start another project so it has been in my closet waiting for me.
12.  Yo-Yo's for a small Civil War quilt
13.  This only needs to have the binding hand sewn.  Thank you Teresa for this beautiful quilt kit.  I love it.
14.  A Thimbleberries table runner
15.  Mystery Quilt 2012 from Heirloom Creations.  Needs to be quilted and have binding attached.
16.  Another chevron quilt kit.  This is for my nephew for high school graduation.  He graduates in May so I have plenty of time, right?
17.  Granny Squares quilt blocks I started in the summer of 2012.  Prince Charming fabrics.  So cute!
18.  A Moda Bake Shoppe quilt.  This is queen size and only needs backing, quilting, and binding.
19.  A baby quilt for a gift or donation.
20.  Mustard Baskets quilt.  I don't have templates to quilt this one and I saw it all done up with feather quilting and fell in love with it.  Now because it is pieced and ready for quilting, I am too cheap to spend the money to have someone else quilt it.  How should I quilt it?
21.  This was a jelly roll quilt I made when I just had to cut into a jelly roll that Meghan had gifted to me.  I wanted to make it larger with borders, but wasn't able to find fabric to make it larger.  I have a back all pieced with extra blocks.  It will be a nice tablecloth size or wall hanging.
22.  More charm packs.  I have the pattern all picked out and the dimensions figured.  Just didn't want to cut into this beautiful fabric.
23.  A gift!
24.  This is so old.  I thought I wanted to stretch it around a canvas frame but have since decided to cut it to size and use it on my dresser when I put my 1930's quilt on my bed.
25.  I bought this in Garner, IA when I went on a trip with my mom and dad.  Probably about 11 years ago or more. I have had it out so many times to work on it and always put it back in the kit and put it away.  It would be a nice primitive quilt for my apartment.
26.  I loved this when I made it and then found the quilting to be so slow and laborious.  I never take it out and finish it.  It is pretty, not really my style any longer.
27.  A chevron baby quilt I made with solids from my stash.  It needs a cute backing and binding.  It is for a gift or donation.
28.  I have had this fabric and pattern from a magazine for a very long time.  I smile every time I look at it and have just never cut into it!  It would be so cute made up.
29.  Another gift.
30.  A messenger bag.  I forgot how nice these were until I saw the one I had made my niece over Thanksgiving break.  My sister said it gets used all the time.  I think I should finish this one!
31.  So disgusted with this one.  I loved this quilt top.  Then I quilted it.  I was having such a great time quilting I just kept going, and going, and going.  I "over quilted it."  I hate it now.  So I have started to unstitch the rows going in one direction.  I don't know if I will ever complete this now.
32.  Let it Snow.  This quilt top is close to completion but the quilting causes me to "freeze".  I never know how to quilt small things like this.  It would be cute in my apartment for the winter.

33.  A class I took at Heirloom Creations quilt shop.  This needs a backing, quilting, and binding.  Not sure how I feel about this but it will keep someone warm when it is done.
34.  Fabric I purchased from Connecting Threads and wanted to use my Accuquilt Go to cut blocks.  Not sure how I feel about this one either.  It is finishing quite large.
35.  Have these charm squares all put together to make a quilt for a baby.  I think I was making 1/2 square triangles and then sewing them together.
36.  A grey and yellow baby quilt.  This needs quilting and binding.  This will be a gift or donation.
37.  A quilt top I put together years ago.  It was a jellyroll pattern.  I love this one still.
38.  Scrappy Trip Around the World from fat quarters I got when I went on a Quilt Shop Hop Bus Trip.
39.  Heirloom Creations Super Bowl Mystery Quilt 2011.  This needs to be quilted!

I think that is it!  I estimated 50 projects that were incomplete.  It feels like 50 but is really only 39.  That would be about 3 finishes a month.  Hummm . . . .I wonder how many I will complete before I am distracted and start sewing something new?  Maybe I can't buy fabric for new quilts in 2014.  Now that doesn't sound fun at all.  :(

Mug Rugs

I decided to make my friend mug rugs for her birthday.  We always get each other a little something and this year I was stumped. I did lots of internet searching and found that mug rugs have been quite a craze.  I love them.  Aren't they cute?  I think she will like this little handmade gift!
